About
Hitoki & me
Hitoki represents a solitary soul finding grounding beneath a Japanese maple. In Japan, Hito (ひと) means human, and Ki (き)means tree. It’s a philosophy of wandering alone but never feeling lonely. Hitoki Life is a curated travel journal dedicated to those who seek Japan beyond the postcards—uncovering hidden rokans, moss-covered shrines, and quiet, slow-travel rituals that restore the soul.
Hi, I’m Astrid. An introvert, a quiet observer, and an Asia-based digital nomad hopelessly in love with Japan. While crowds drain me, a rainy morning in a Kyoto alleyway or a foggy bath in a hidden onsen brings me alive. I created Hitoki Life as my personal sanctuary. I don’t do loud, packaged tours. Instead, I share my handpicked, field-tested guides to authentic Japan, boutique stays, and local secrets—curated perfectly for independent travelers who prefer to feel rather than just see.
Hope you enjoy my sharing, cheers!
